Girl’s Princess Costumes
Girl’s Princess Costumes: Every little girl aspires to being the most beautiful princess in the land. They’ll take Mommy’s long dresses and strings of pearls to make a home-made costume at playtime, but now with so many affordable princess costumes available, they can actually have them in their true size. Renaissance costumes and the age of the Tudors of course features gowns for the Princesses of any age.
The royalty of the Renaissance period favored richly textured fabrics that were at that time difficult to acquire. Brocades and velvets were not only luxurious to wear, but helped to keep the Princess warm in those stone, drafty castles. The dresses are so romantic looking compared to modern fashion and so it is no wonder that little girls’ imaginations soar when they dress up in Princess costumes or other Renaissance clothing.
One thing certainly hasn’t changed in all these centuries: little girls and women still love to get new dresses and dress like queens and princesses. Prom dresses and wedding dresses still follow the fashion of the ballgowns of old and the ladies, no matter what age, truly feel transformed when they put them on. Princess costumes tend to be in vibrant colors and rich textures to make the little lady shine like a jewel.
As do all Fairy Tales, the Shrek tales take place in the Land Far Far Away. The story is funny, heartwarming and a great teaching for children to take in about love and tolerance. Maybe not strictly part of Tudor costumes, Princess Fiona may be from the fairy tale Renaissance, but little girls will love to dress like her anyway!
There are so many beautiful princess costumes to choose from, it’s hard to select our favorites. But this Karate Rapunzel gown from Shrek 3 stands out with its shiny orange satin and all the ruffles. Older children and toddlers will both love this dress and the fancy tiara which really makes her feel like a princess!
